Arabic speakers say Salaam aleikum, "peace be with you," and those speaking Hebrew say Shalom or "peace".
The response to Salaam aleikum is Aleikum salaam, "And with you."
You can see from the similarity of the Hebrew and Arabic words that the two languages must be . . . what?
