Great cities and their demographics: metropolitan populations

In this listing wikipedia's source is the Univ of Illinois, 2003. Be aware that you will see some variation in great cities' rankings.

This based on the Metropolitan number, not on the number of people in the core city. An example: Shreveport-Bossier's population is around 260,000. But the Metro area, says Wikipedia, comprises some 375,000.
